Olympus Campus successfully concluded its free online seminar on Cartography in Geography on Monday, 3rd August 2026, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of G.C.E. Advanced Level Geography students from across Sri Lanka.
The online session, conducted via Zoom, was led by Prof. D.M. Karunadasa, Senior Lecturer and Former Head of the Department of Geography at the University of Colombo — one of Sri Lanka's foremost authorities in the field.
A Timely Boost Before the Exam
With the A/L examination just weeks away, the seminar was designed to give Geography students a focused, practical revision of cartography — a section of the syllabus that carries significant weight in the exam but is often a challenge for students.
Over the course of the session, Prof. Karunadasa covered:
- Core cartographic concepts and map interpretation techniques tested at A/L
- Common mistakes students make in map-based questions — and how to avoid them
- Proven exam techniques for answering cartography questions accurately and efficiently
- Time management strategies for the Geography paper
The session concluded with a lively Q&A segment, where students had the rare opportunity to put their questions directly to a senior university academic and receive clear, exam-focused answers.
Free Education, Open to All
True to our commitment to making quality education accessible, the seminar was offered completely free of charge and open to all A/L Geography students, regardless of where they study. Virtual seats filled quickly following the announcement, reflecting the strong demand among students for expert-led exam preparation.
The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many students noting that the session gave them renewed confidence in tackling the cartography component of their upcoming paper.
